82 Year Old Goes Wrong Way On Highway – Police Cruiser Struck

(City of Peterborough ON) – On Wednesday September 25, 2013 at approximately 2:04 p.m. Officers from the Peterborough County OPP observed a motorist travelling the wrong way on Highway 115 near the Peterborough OPP Detachment in the City of Peterborough.

Officers observed a white Buick travelling north in the south lanes of Highway 115. The vehicle was being operated by an elderly female at a low rate of speed.

Officers were able to stop the vehicle at the intersection of Highway 7 and Highway 115. Upon stopping the vehicle the driver neglected to put the vehicle in park and the Buick rolled forward striking a marked OPP Tahoe Cruiser that had stopped in front to the vehicle. An officer received minor injuries, while avoiding being struck by the suspect vehicle. The cruiser received minor damage.

As a result of the investigation, 82 year old Grace MILLER of Peterborough has been charged with Careless Driving under the Highway Traffic Act.
