82 Year Old Charged In Collision That Sent Children To Hospital

(TOWNSHIP OF CHATSWORTH, ON) – On December 20, 2015 at approximately 1:20 p.m., a Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection OF Concession 3A and Grey Road 40 in the Township of Chatsworth, sending four people to hospital with minor injuries.

Investigation revealed that a 2012 Toyota RAV vehicle made a left turn from Concession 3A onto Grey Road 40 into the path of a westbound 2003 Volkswagen Golf vehicle.

The Chatsworth Fire Department and Grey County Paramedic Services assisted at the scene.

The driver of the Volkswagen, age 47, and his two passengers ages 10 and 12, were transported to hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and released. They were from Thorndale, Ontario.

The driver of the Toyota, 82-year old Gilbert HOWEY of the Township of Chatsworth, was charged with “Turn Not in Safety” under the Highway Traffic Act. He was treated for minor injuries.
