(THUNDER BAY, ON) – On Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at approximately 7:30 am, officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 61 and Chippewa Road.
The driver of a Ford Crossover was south bound on Highway 61, when the driver attempted to make a left turn onto Chippewa Road. The driver collided with a north bound Volkswagen Beetle.
The male driver of the Volkswagen was transported to hospital by ambulance with non lie threatening injuries. The driver of the Ford reported no injuries. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage.
The driver of the Ford vehicle, a 70 year old male, from Thunder Bay was charged with Left Turn- Fail to Afford Reasonable Opportunity to Avoid Collision contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
