68 Year Old Rear Ends School Bus

(TILLSONBURG, ON.) – On October 22, 2015 at approximately 3:30 p.m. Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision on Fourth Street in Tillsonburg between a motor vehicle and a Lang’s Line school bus.

Both vehicles had been travelling westbound on Fourth Street, the school bus followed by the motor vehicle. The school bus stopped for the railway crossing when it was struck by the motor vehicle.

As a result of the investigation, the male driver of the motor vehicle, 68-year-old Robert VANGOETHEM of Norfolk County was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Careless Driving.

There were no injuries from the collision, and the students were transported safely home from the scene.

Oxford County Emergency Medical Service (EMS) and Tillsonburg Fire department responded and assisted with the scene.

OPP would like to remind drivers to be aware of school buses and that they make frequent stops. Keep a safe distance when travelling behind to allow yourself the time necessary to safely manoeuvre or stop your vehicle when necessary.
