(TRENT HILLS, ON) – On Wednesday December 4, 2013 members of Ontario Provincial Police’s (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau -Drug Enforcement Section (OCEB-DES) executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant on a residence in the village of Warkworth in the Municipality of Trent Hills, Ontario.
Northumberland OPP uniform and Street Response Team (SRT) members assisted OCEB-DES members with the CDSA search warrant on the Center Street residence where three people were arrested. Officers seized 86 marihuana plants, 80 grams of marihuana bud and a 2011 Ford Flex vehicle. The officers also seized $15,000 in hydroponic growing equipment. The estimated street value of the drug seizure is $51,000.
John L. CROFT (male), 41 and Kelly CROFT (female) 39, from Warkworth, Ontario and Michael Brian HEWITT (male) 39 from Oshawa, Ontario have been charged with one count each under the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act:
Production of Schedule ll substance (cannabis marihuana)
Possession of a Schedule ll substance for the purpose of trafficking over 3 kilograms
All three accused have been released on a promise to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on Wednesday January 22, 2014 in Cobourg, Ontario at 9:30 am.
