(NORTH PERTH, ON) –On Friday January 20, 2017, shortly after 3:30 a.m., the Perth County OPP observed a Silver Subaru Forester SUV travelling west bound at a high rate of speed on Line 86. This was near Perth Road 157 in the Municipality of North Perth.
The vehicle was stopped and while speaking with the driver, police detected the odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. A Roadside Screening Device (ASD) test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and taken to Wellington County OPP detachment in Teviotdale for further testing. He later provided samples of his breath into an Intoxilyzer and registered over the legal limit.
As a result of investigation 24 year-old Nicholas DAMIANI of Windsor has been charged with driving a motor vehicle with over 80 mgs of alcohol contrary to the Criminal Code. He is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Listowel on February 15, 2017.
He has also been charged with performing a stunt – excessive speed, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He is to appear in a Stratford Provincial offences court on February 14, 2017.
He received a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and the SUV was seized for 7 days.
