22 Year Old Charged After Uttering Threats

(MUNICIPALITY OF MEAFORD, ON) – On March 19, 2019 at approximately 7:30 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a threats complaint in the Municipality of Meaford.

The victim, a 34-year old male, was walking through a commercial parking lot on Sykes Street South in Meaford when he was stopped and confronted by an unknown male in a pick-up truck.

The driver of the pick-up displayed a knife and threatened the victim for allegedly looking inappropriately at his girlfriend who was seated next to him in the truck. After a brief verbal altercation, the suspect drove away.

Through investigation, the suspect was identified and arrested.

22-year old Andrew HILTS of the Municipality of Meaford was charged with assault with a weapon and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.

He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on April 18, 2019 to speak to the charges.
