(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) – On September 20, 2017 at approximately 2:00 a.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on Highway 6 near Laird Road in the City of Guelph. The officer observed a female driving a 2017 Chevrolet Cruz travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at 143 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.
22-year-old Evon NIRANJAN of Kitchener has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on November 1, 2017. Her driver’s licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
