(SEVERN TOWNSHIP, ON) – On Thursday, December 29, 2016, the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was notified by Simcoe Muskoka Family Connexions (SMFC) Orillia office of a serious incident involving an infant.
The Orillia OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) Detective Inspector Colleen McCormick investigated the incident.
As a result, a 20 year old Severn Township man was arrested and charged with:
Aggravated Assault contrary to section 268 of the Criminal Code; and with
Failing to Provide the Necessaries of Life contrary to Section 215(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.
He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia on January 31, 2017.
The infant remains in hospital in stable condition.
