(MAPLETON TWP., ON) – On September 27, 2014 at approximately 5:50 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received a report of a two vehicle collision on Wellington Road 9 and Wellington Road 8, in Mapleton Twp.
Officers responded along with the Mapleton Fire and Rescue and Town of Minto Fire Department.
Investigation revealed that a 2008 grey Hyundai Sonata travelling southbound on Wellington Road 9 collided with beige 2014 Dodge Caravan that was travelling eastbound on Wellington Road 8. The driver of the Hyundai and 3 passengers were transported to a local hospital by land ambulance. The driver and two passengers are being treated for non-life threatening injuries while one passenger was subsequently airlifted to a Hamilton hospital with life threatening injuries. The 46 year old male driver of the Caravan was transported by land ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Members from the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Team are attending the scene. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
