(ADELAIDE METCALFE, ON) – In the early morning hours of December 12, 2014, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau – Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU), with the assistance of the Middlesex County OPP, the OPP West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), and the West Region Canine Unit, attended a property in the 5000 block of Scotchmere Drive.
A Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant was executed at the residence.
As a result of the execution of the search warrant, approximately 2.5 pounds of marihuana, and a long gun, were located and seized, and a male and female were arrested.
A 37 year old male, Russell BRYANT, from Adelaide Metcalfe, Ontario, has been charged with possession of a schedule II substance – cannabis marihuana – over 30 grams, contrary to the CDSA. He was further charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
A 27 year old female, Shannen FISCHER, from Strathroy Caradoc, Ontario, has been charged with possession of a schedule II substance – cannabis marihuana – over 30 grams, contrary to the CDSA. She was further charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
They were each released from police custody on a promise to appear and are scheduled to answer to the charges in a London court on January 16, 2015.
