(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment investigated a serious motor vehicle collision at a Norfolk County Road 23, Houghton, Norfolk County, Ontario, address.
On Thursday, October 13, 2016 at approximately 7:34 a.m., OPP, Norfolk County Fire Services and Paramedics responded to Norfolk County Road 23 for a collision involving two (2) motor vehicles.
Through the course of investigation, it has been determined that a grey coloured Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) being operated by a 19-year-old male of Norfolk County, Ontario, was travelling southbound on Norfolk County Road 23, when the driver of the vehicle crossed over into the northbound lanes colliding head-on with a pickup truck being operated by a 52-year-old male of Norfolk County, Ontario.
As a result of the collision, both drivers suffered serious life threatening injuries. The driver of the SUV was air lifted to a London area hospital and the driver of the pickup truck was transported by Paramedics to a Tillsonburg area hospital for treatment where he was then airlifted to a London area hospital for treatment.
On Saturday, October 15, 2016, 19-year-old Jacob BERGEN of Norfolk County, Ontario was pronounced deceased by the attending physicians.
Technical Traffic Collision Investigators assisted with the investigation.
