(COLLINGWOOD, ON) An officer from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) impounded a vehicle and charged a motorist for speeding at 50 km/h over the posted speed limit on Grey Road 19.
On February 4 2016 at approximately 11:30pm, an officer on patrols observed a speeding motor vehicle east bound on Grey Road 19 near Mountain Road. A radar reading confirmed the observation showing the vehicle was speeding at 140 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone which led the officer to conduct a vehicle stop. The stop resulted in the 18 year-old driver from Collingwood being charged with race a motor vehicle under section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act, a 7 day driver’s licence suspension as well as the impoundment of the vehicle.
He is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on the 18th of March 2016.
