17 Year Old Caught Going 166 In An 80 Near Listowel

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) – On Saturday November 12, 2016, just before 11:30 a.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer spotted a fast moving motor vehicle on Hwy 23 in the area of Line 87(north of Listowel). The speed of the vehicle was measured with a RADAR device at 166 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.

A seventeen year old male from the Township of Perth South was served a summons for the charge of “Racing”. He will have to attend Stratford Court on December 13, 2016, to answer to this charge. His driving privileges were taken away for seven days and the Hyundai Elantra he was operating was towed from the scene. The motor vehicle has been impounded for a week.

The Perth County OPP reminds motorists that behaviors such as speed, aggressiveness, intoxicating substances, distractions, unsafe vehicles and fatigue do not mix with driving.
