Just before 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning while on patrol in the area of 25th Street A East and 8th Avenue East an officer observed two young persons. As a result of speaking with the males an investigation began which resulted in the arrest of a 16yr old.
Police recovered items believed to have been stolen from unlocked motor vehicles and learned of some of the residential properties which had been trespassed upon. The Owen Sound resident has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime, three counts of trespassing or prowling at night near a dwelling and is required to attend the Youth Justice Court on August 25, 2015 with respect to the charges.
Any persons who suspect property was stolen from their vehicles over night are encouraged to contact Constable Schultz of the Owen Sound Police Service.
Police also wish to remind citizens that the warmer weather brings out persons who prowl by night and that the best way to not lose your property to these thieves is to lock your vehicles.
