16 Year Old Faces Multiple Charges – Drunk Driving, Resist, etc etc.

(GODERICH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers have charged a 16 year old male with several offences following an early morning traffic stop on May 12, 2013. Just after 2:00 a.m. a Huron OPP officer observed a grey Toyota Camry travelling on Hamilton Street, the officer activated the police emergency lights and attempted to stop the driver for a sobriety check. The driver pulled over however upon doing so he immediately took off running from the vehicle. A foot chase ensued a short distance down the block until the driver gave himself up to police.

The officer noted the driver had been drinking alcohol and was displaying several signs of impairment. A check inside the vehicle also resulted in the officer locating open alcohol. He was subsequently arrested for the offence of Impaired Driving and Resist a Peace Officer.

The driver, 16 years of age from Goderich has been charged with Impaired Driving, Resist Peace Officer, Class G1 Licence Holder Drive at Unlawful Hour, Class G1 Licence Holder – Unaccompanied by Qualified Driver, Novice Driver Fail to Surrender Licence, Novice Driver – Blood Alcohol Concentration Above Zero, Person Under 19 years Consuming Liquor and Having Care and Control of a Motor With Unsealed Container of Liquor. He has a court appearance scheduled for the Youth Justice Court – Goderich on July 4, 2013.
