14 Year Old Seriously Injured In UTV Incident

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continues to investigate an incident involving a Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV) that resulted in one local male youth being seriously injured.

On February 6, 2016 at approximately 9:50pm the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the OPP was contacted by ambulance dispatch with the request to attend an address in the former Emily Township to assist with an incident in which a 14 year old male had been seriously injured.

Initial investigation indicates that several youths were riding in a gator style UTV which was being operated on private property when the vehicle struck a rise in the field that was used as a roadway for vehicles. The collision resulted in one youth being dislodged from the UTV.

The youth was transported via ambulance to a local hospital with serious injuries and was then later transported via helicopter to a Toronto area hospital.

A Scenes of Crime Officer (SOCO) attended the location to assist with the investigation which is on-going.
