(TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH, ON) – On the 14th of January 2015 at 1:35 p.m. an officer from the Nottawasaga OPP Detachment was on general patrol in the area of Highway 89 and the 8th Line of New Tecumseth Township when a red Dodge Caravan was observed to be travelling westbound at a high rate of speed.
The officers determined that the motor vehicle was travelling 135 km/hr in a posted 80 km/hr zone.
The driver was stopped and as a result of the investigation, 38-year old male from Noth York was charged with Stunt Driving. His licence was immediately suspended for seven days and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Recent OPP data has revealed that OPP-investigated road deaths this year
(2014) in which speeding was a causal factor are more than double what they
were at this time last year.
