12 Year Old Airlifted To Hospital After ATV Rolls

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Norfolk County Detachment is urging everyone to put their safety as a priority after police investigated a single off-road vehicle collision.

On Thursday, May 9, 2019, at approximately 7:33 p.m., OPP and Norfolk County Paramedic Services responded to a Lynn Valley Road address located in Woodhouse for a collision involving a side by side All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV).

Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that a 12-year-old male of Norfolk County, Ontario was operating the ATV and was heading eastbound on Lynn Valley Road with his father as a passenger. The young man subsequently lost control and entered the north ditch where the ATV rolled over ejecting both the driver and passenger.

As a result, the young boy suffered serious life-threatening injuries and was air lifted to a Hamilton area hospital to be treated by physicians. The passenger, a 47-year-old male of Norfolk County, Ontario was transported to a local area hospital to be treated for serious non-life threatening injuries.

Technical Collision Investigators were called in to assist with the incident. Lynn Valley Road was closed for an extended period of time to allow for further investigation.

The investigation is continuing.
