The Ontario Provincial Police would like to remind residents to please refrain from
depositing snow on the roadway when clearing snow from driveways. This can create
a traffic hazard and interfere with the public’s safe and clear passage of a roadway.
This is an offence under section 181 of the Highway Traffic Act which states†No person
shall deposit snow or ice on a roadway without permission in writing to do so from the
Ministry or the road authority responsible for the maintenance of the road.â€
Contravention of section181 of the HTA could result in a fine of $110.00.
