On March 3rd, police observed a male known to them on Josephine St in Wingham. The man is on release conditions not to enter Wingham. He was arrested and held for bail. He was released by the court on his own recognizance. 44 Year old Sidney Prince of Brampton is charged with breaching his recognizance of bail.

During the early morning hours of March 4th, Police were called to the Wingham Salvation Army where two men were taking clothing from the donation box. The men were arrested and during the arrest, a small quantity of Marijuana and counterfeit money was located. 36 year old Matthew Cameron of Wingham is charged with theft under $5,000, possession of a scheduled substance and fail to comply with probation. 25 year old Brandon Stone of South Bruce is charged with theft under $5,000, possession of counterfeit money and failing to comply with probation.
Wingham Police report busy holiday weekend
On Friday the 16th, a business owner reported that a Josephine St business had been entered sometime during the previous night. There was no sign of damage however it was discovered that a 10 inch Samsung tablet was missing.
During the morning of Saturday the 17th, OPP advised that a vehicle had been stolen from a Jamestown Rd address. A Wingham officer observed the vehicle in Wingham and a pursuit was initiated. The suspect failed to stop and the pursuit was terminated due to safety. The same vehicle was later observed in Perth County driving erratically. The Middlesex OPP were able to arrest a suspect with regard to this incident.
In the afternoon of the 17th, police received a report of a stolen vehicle from Minnie St. In this instance, the driver of the vehicle had parked it in a driveway and a person known to her got in the vehicle and drove it off. The suspect, 25 year old Joshua Crolle of Morris Turnberry was later arrested in Wingham and held for bail. He is charged with theft, impaired driving and breach of a recognizance. The vehicle was later discovered at a B Line Rd business.
During the early morning hours of Sunday the 18th, Police were called to assist ambulance on Josephine St. A 22 year old male was located outside without a shirt on acting strangely, in need of medical attention. The officer and paramedics placed the male in the police cruiser to be transported to the hospital. He then kicked out the rear window of the cruiser. OPP attended to assist and transported the individual to the hospital for required treatment. No name will be released due to the fact that this was a medical situation.
Police report that the incident involving the Wingham Library reported to the media yesterday has been resolved. One arrest has been made and a second suspect remains at large with a warrant being sought.
23 year old Cody Priestep of Wingham faces charges of Break and Enter and Theft and he is to appear in Wingham Court on March 8th.
Police are investigating a series of recent break and enters in Wingham.
On January 29th, an employee attended the Wingham Library to find that a window had been broken and entry had been gained. A small amount of loose change was stolen.
On January 31st, a resident reported that the padlock on his shed had been cut and the building entered. It could not be determined if anything was missing.
On February 3rd, someone entered a compound on Minnie St and a small number of tools were taken. Two males had been observed in the area prior to police being called.
On February 5th, a business owner noticed that the door to the basement of his Josephine Street business had been forced open and entry was gained. Nothing was taken and the door sustained minor damages.
Anyone with information regarding any of these events or any other crimes are asked to contact the Wingham Police or Crime Stoppers.
On February 1st. an elderly couple fell victim to a “Grandparent scam” and lost a substantial amount of money to the fraudster. In this type of incident the fraudster will contact an elderly person posing to be a grandchild who is in trouble and needs money wired to them to cover medical and legal fees. If you are contacted by anyone, confirm their story with other family members before sending any money and contact police.
