Wellington OPP Weekly Report

(COUNTY OF WELLINGTON, ON) – Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) would like to consolidate and streamline our notable traffic offences and publish a single weekly release.

On August 23, 2023, at approximately 12:30 p.m., Wellington County OPP responded to a reported traffic complaint on Highway 6, Wellington North. It was reported that a grey sedan was being driven erratically. As a result of the investigation, Augustina RALSTON, 55-years-old of St Catharines, has been charged with Operation while Impaired and Operation while Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 plus, contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph, on September 15, 2023.

On August 24, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 50, Erin. At approximately 8:00 a.m., the driver of a blue pickup truck was stopped. As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old driver from Erin, was charged with Driving while Under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (H.T.A.) and with Operate a Motor Vehicle without Insurance contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (C.A.I.A.). The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court – Guelph, on December 6, 2023.

On August 24, 2023, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Wellington County OPP responded to a report of a traffic hazard on Wellington Road 7, Pilkington. As a result of the investigation, Justin James CAMERON, 40-years-old of Guelph, has been charged with Operation while Impaired, contrary to the C.C. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph, on September 12, 2023.

On August 25, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 109, Wellington North. At approximately 2:15 a.m., the driver of a black coupe was observed travelling well above the posted 80km/hr speed limit. As a result of the investigation, a 54-year-old driver from Tiverton, has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt, contrary to the H.T.A. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court – Guelph, on December 6, 2023.

On August 26, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Highway 6, Wellington North. At approximately 11:30 a.m., the driver of a blue sedan was stopped. As a result of the investigation, a 27-year-old driver from Mississauga, was charged with Driving while Under Suspension contrary to the H.T.A. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court – Guelph, on December 6, 2023.

On August 26, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 18, Centre Wellington. At approximately 11:30 p.m., the driver of a red coupe was stopped. As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old driver from Ariss, was charged with Operate Unsafe Vehicle, Improper Tires, Drive Motor Vehicle – Fail to Display Two Plates and Improper Muffler, contrary to the H.T.A. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court – Guelph, on December 6, 2023.

On August 27, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 123, Minto. At approximately 2:30 a.m., the driver of a grey sedan was stopped. As a result of the investigation, a 19-year-old driver from Gowanstown, was charged with three counts of Driving while Under Suspension, Use Plates not Authorized and Fail to Apply for Permit on Becoming Owner, contrary to the H.T.A. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court – Guelph, on December 6, 2023.

On August 27, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 18, Centre Wellington. At approximately 7:30 p.m., the driver of a grey pickup truck was stopped. As a result of the investigation, a 25-year-old driver from London, was charged with Driving while Under Suspension, contrary to the H.T.A. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court – Guelph, on December 6, 2023.

On August 27, 2023, Wellington County OPP responded to a single vehicle collision on Wellington Road 16, Centre Wellington. It was reported that a black sedan had left the roadway and rolled over. As a result of the investigation, Jonathan Sean POON WAH, 18-years-old of Brampton, was charged with Dangerous Operation, contrary to the C.C. The defendant is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph, on October 17, 2023.  

On August 28, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Jones Baseline, Guelph/Eramosa. At approximately 4:30 p.m., the driver of a white sedan was observed travelling well above the posted 60km/hr speed limit. As a result of the investigation, a 19-year-old driver from Elora, has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt, contrary to the H.T.A. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court – Guelph, on December 6, 2023.

On August 30, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Edinburgh Avenue, Fergus. At approximately 12:30 p.m., the driver of a black Sport Utility Vehicle (S.U.V.) was stopped. As a result of the investigation, a 23-year-old driver from Maple, has been charged with Operate Motor Vehicle without Insurance contrary to the C.A.I.A. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court – Guelph, on December 6, 2023.

*Anyone charged with Operation while Impaired – B.A.C. 80 Plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood) or Failing to Comply with Demand receives a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment as per statute.

*Anyone charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt receives a 14-day impoundment and a 30-day driver’s licence suspension as per statute.
