Vanastra Resident Arrested For Drunk Driving

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a resident of Vanastra with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus following a traffic stop that took place in Clinton earlier this month. 

On Sunday, August 14, 2022, at approximately 5:19 p.m. a Huron County OPP officer stopped a sedan that was travelling southbound on Albert Street to check on the licence status of the driver. Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer determined the driver was currently subject to a driver’s licence suspension. Additionally, the officer observed open alcohol in the vehicle and noted the driver had consumed some alcohol.

A roadside screening test was performed and the driver registered a fail. He was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for further testing. Two samples of breath were supplied to the Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were found to be over the legal limit. 

Michael PLETSCH, 31 years of age from Vanastra has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus), Drive a Motor Vehicle With Open Container of Alcohol and Driving While Under Suspension.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 26, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
