Two Collisions – Two Sent To Hospital

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated two serious unrelated collisions in South Huron on the evening of Friday July 7th, 2023.

At approximately 6:00 p.m., Huron OPP officers along with Huron County Emergency Paramedic Services attended a location on Dashwood Road, east of Dashwood for a motorcycle-involved collision. During the investigation, police learned that two motorcycles travelling together were on their way to Grand Bend. Both motorcycles were travelling westbound when the lead motorcycle operator braked and was contacted by the second motorcycle. This caused the second motorcycle operator to lose control and impact the roadway, fracturing their leg. The injured 44-year-old operator from Waterloo was transported to the South Huron Hospital, then transferred to Victoria Hospital in London by Air Orange with non-life-threatening injuries. This investigation is continuing as alcohol may have been a factor.

At approximately 10:45 p.m., Huron OPP were notified of a single-vehicle collision into a tree on Crediton Road near Bronson Line. The lone driver was reportedly trapped with a serious injury. Emergency responders were able to free the driver from the involved pickup truck, and they were transported to the South Huron Hospital. The 43-year-old driver from South Huron was later transferred by land ambulance to Victoria Hospital in London for further assessment for non-life-threatening injuries. This investigation is continuing as alcohol may have been a factor.

Anyone with information regarding either of these events is encouraged to contact Huron OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or (519) 482-1677.
