SANGSTER Impaired According To DRE #YoDRE

(HURON EAST, ON) – A call to police to check on suspiciously parked vehicle last week has led to the arrest of an Exeter resident for Impaired Operation.

On August 16, 2021 at approximately 6:18 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received a call about a sedan that was parked in a suspicious manner on Coleman Street in Seaforth. 

Shortly after Huron OPP officers arrived on scene and had a chance to speak with the driver. Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer made some observations that led him to believe the driver was impaired by a drug. The driver was placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and was subsequently transported to the London OPP Detachment for testing.

A Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) evaluated the driver and it was deemed by the DRE the driver was Impaired by a Drug. 

Matthew SANGSTER, 31 years of age from Exeter has been charged with Operation While Impaired. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 27, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

An automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension has been served on the driver and his vehicle was also impounded.
