Pedestrian Sent To Hospital Following Hit & Run Near Gorrie

(HOWICK, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continue to investigate a fail to remain collision involving a pedestrian that took place this past weekend.

On September 5, 2021 at approximately 9:16 p.m. Huron County OPP and Wellington County Emergency Services responded to the crash scene located at the intersection of Harriston Road and Toll Gate Line east of Gorrie. 

Upon arrival first responders attended to a pedestrian that had been struck by a vehicle. The injured pedestrian, a 62-year-old from Howick, was transported to hospital and later released with non-life threatening injuries.

The subsequent investigation revealed the pedestrian was walking eastbound on the side of Harriston Road when an eastbound vehicle collided with the pedestrian. The driver of the suspect vehicle failed to stop at the scene of the crash and took off at a high rate of speed.

Investigators believe the involved suspect vehicle is either a 2008 to 2016 model Dodge Caravan or a Chrysler Town & Country minivan. The suspect vehicle may still be missing a passenger side mirror.
