(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a South Huron resident with Impaired driving offences following a report of a vehicle stuck in the ditch on February 24th.
Huron County OPP was contacted by an alert citizen who observed a stranded motorist in the ditch on Morrison Line just South of Huron Street at approximately 10:55 a.m. Police arrived shortly after and located the driver seated inside the vehicle. In speaking to the driver, the investigating officer determined that the driver had consumed alcohol prior to driving and was subsequently arrested for Impaired Operation.
The individual was transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton to provide breath tests before a qualified Intoxilyzer Technician. Suitable breath samples were provided to police which resulted in readings over the legal limit.
Jason KURTZ, 38 years of age from South Huron has been charged with:
– Operation while Impaired,
– Operation while Impaired – Over 80,
– Driving While Under Suspension.
The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.
The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for April 3rd, 2023, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
