Drunk Driver Arrested Near Shipka

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A South Huron resident is facing a charge of Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus following a traffic stop conducted this past weekend near Shipka.

Just before 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 4, 2021 a pickup truck entered into a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint that was set up at the intersection of Shipka Line and Crediton Road. Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the driver had been drinking some alcohol.

As such a roadside screening test was administered and the driver registered a fail. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and was transported to the Grand Bend OPP Detachment for breath tests. Two samples of breath were taken by the Qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were found to be above the legal limit.
