Drunk Driver Arrested – CLEMENTS

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township resident with several criminal offences following a traffic complaint received by police from the public on September 29th, 2023. 

On Friday evening, September 29th at 8:45 p.m., Huron County OPP were contacted by a concerned citizen who reported a suspicious person walking on Kinburn Line near Huron Road in the Municipality of Huron East. Police arrived on scene minutes later and located the individual matching the complainant’s description.

Police spoke to the individual and determined that they had been consuming alcohol and had been driving a motor vehicle prior to police arrival. The individual was subsequently placed under arrest, taken into custody, and transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton for further breath tests before an OPP qualified breath technician. Further investigation revealed information that the accused had committed an assault and mischief to property.

Ashton CLEMENTS, 24 years of age from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs,

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80,

–      Assault,

–      Mischief Under $5,000.

The accused was additionally charged with an offence found in the Liquor Licence Control Act (LLCA).

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

 The accused was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for November 6th at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
