Clinton Business Damaged By Vehicle – 60 Year Old Arrested For Impaired Driving

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Central Huron resident with several offences following a collision on May 13th at approximately 3:00 p.m. 

Huron County OPP and the Central Huron Fire Department were called to the scene of a collision on May 13th, 2023. Upon arrival, emergency services discovered that an SUV had collided with the front of a commercial building on Mill Street in Clinton, causing considerable damage to the front entrance area. Witnesses advised police that the involved driver had left the scene in the damaged vehicle.

Soon after the incident, police located the suspect vehicle and involved driver and determined that they had been under the influence of alcohol while driving. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and taken into custody.

John WILSON, 60 years of age from Central Huron has been charged with:

–      Dangerous Operation,

–      Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs,

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80.

The accused was additionally charged with three offences found in the Highway Traffic Act including: Failing to Remain, Failing to Report, and Driving a Motor Vehicle – no licence.  

The accused’ driver’s license was seized for a period of 90 days, and the involved vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for June 26th, 2023, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
