Assault Leads To Impaired Charge For 17 Year Old

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a London resident with Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) following a failed roadside test on July 29th at approximately 1:15 a.m. on Main Street North in Exeter, Municipality of South Huron. 

Police were dispatched to a report of an assault in a parking lot located on Main Street North in Exeter. While officers were investigating the incident, they spoke with a vehicle driver which led to the investigating officer conducting a roadside screening device test on the driver. The roadside breath test resulted in a failure and the driver was placed under arrest and taken into custody. 

The accused was then transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for further breath tests. Two samples of breath were supplied to the Intoxilyzer Technician and both tests were found to be over the legal limit. 

A 17-year-old male youth from London has been charged with:

–      Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus).

The youth was additionally charged with an offence found in the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) relating to the graduated licence program.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
