65 Year Old Arrested For Drunk Driving

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a South Huron resident with Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) following a failed roadside test on Friday, July 28th at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Dashwood Road, Municipality of South Huron. 

A Huron County OPP officer was patrolling east on Dashwood Road when they observed a motor vehicle travelling westbound at a high rate of speed. The officer locked in the speed reading and proceeded to complete a traffic stop on Dashwood Road. Police pulled the vehicle over and spoke with the driver which led the investigating officer to conduct a roadside screening device test on the driver. The roadside breath test resulted in a failure and the driver was placed under arrest and taken into custody. 

The accused was then transported to the Huron OPP Detachment in Clinton for further breath tests. Two samples of breath were supplied to the Intoxilyzer Technician and both tests were found to be over the legal limit. 

Somphone OUNSAMONE, 65 years of age from South Huron has been charged with:

–      Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus).

The accused was additionally charged with offences found in the Liquor Licence Control Act (LLCA), and the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 11th at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
