Improperly Secured Toddler Leads To Charges For 21 Year Old

(BLIND RIVER, ON)- On December 17, 2016, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police were on regular patrol duties in the Town of Blind River.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m., police observed a vehicle on Causley Street and then turn onto Woodward Avenue. Police initiated a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle was found to be unlicensed. The officer also observed a toddler not properly secured in the rear seat of the vehicle.

As a result, Courtney MARION-MORNINGSTAR, 21 years of age from Blind River, Ontario, was issued two provincial offence notices and charged with:

Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence, contrary to section 31(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA); and

Drive While Child Passenger Not Properly Secured, contrary to section 106(4)(b) of the HTA.
