Bancroft OPP Weekly Press Release

(BANCROFT, ON) – During the week of the 16 of January 2017 through to the 22 of January 2017, officers with the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to eighty (80) calls for service.

These investigations included alarms, two (2) assaults, three (3) break and enters, three (3) bail violations, dangerous conditions, domestic disputes, three (3) drug offences, family dispute, fire, six (6) frauds, mental health act call, missing person, noise complaint, police assistance / information calls, shoplift, suspicious vehicles, four (4) thefts, four (4) traffic complaints, trespass to property calls and other police related calls for service.

Twelve (12) criminal charges were laid as a result of the bail violation, shoplift and assault investigations.

Officers also responded to four (4) motor vehicle collisions where one (1) was involved with striking a deer. Two of the motor vehicle collisions involved motorized snow vehicles (MSV), and one driver was injured as a result of those collisions.

Officers conducted seven (7) R.I.D.E. programs in the area, resulting in approximately ninety five (95) vehicles, and MSV’s assessed for drivers who had been consuming alcohol.

During that same period, officers laid nine (9) Provincial Offence Notices related to speeding, seatbelts, driving with handheld communication device and other Highway Traffic Act offences.
