(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged the following persons with driving related offences during the past days.
On Thursday January 19, 2017 at approximately 6:15pm a driving complaint was received of an erratic driver. The vehicle was located a short time later on Kawartha Lakes Road 36 and an investigation was started. Arrested and charged with the following offences is Dennis DRINKWALTER, 56 years of age, of Bobcaygeon:
Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)
Driving with More than 80 mg of Alcohol in 100 ml of Blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) CCC
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on February 16, 2017.
On Friday January 20, 2017 at approximately 3pm an officer initiated a vehicle stop on Glenarm Road for a traffic violation. After an investigation, the driver, Douglas POWELL, 50 years of age, of Kirkfield was arrested and charged with the following offences:
Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)
Driving with More than 80 mg of Alcohol in 100 ml of Blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) CCC
Driving Motor Vehicle With Open Container of Alcohol contrary to section 32(1) of the Liquor Licence Act
Possess Unmarked Cigarettes contrary to section 29(2) of the Tobacco Tax Act
Drive Motor Vehicle, No Currently Validated Permit contrary to section 7(1)(a) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on February 16, 2017.
On Friday January 20, 2017 at approximately 7pm an officer stopped at a vehicle in the ditch along Woodville Road near Kirkfield Road. The officer offered the driver assistance in contacting a tow company. The driver advised a tow was on the way. Further investigation by the officer resulted in the driver, 19 year old Pranavan PRATHAB of Toronto being arrested and charged with the following offences:
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 contrary to section 355(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC) (two counts) (licence plates)
Careless Driving contrary to section 130 HTA
Driving While Under Suspension contrary to section 53(1.1) HTA
Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle contrary to section 12(1)(d) HTA
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on February 23, 2017.
