Killaloe OPP Weekly Release

During the week of the 6 February 2017, to the 12 February 2017, there were 91 calls for service, including the Whitney Detachment.

There were seventeen motor vehicle collisions, nine were animal related.

There were four domestic dispute calls for service during the week of the 6 February 2017, to the 12 February 2017. There were no domestic related incidents involving criminal code charges.

Collisions

On the 12 February 2017, at approximately 1:48 pm, Killaloe OPP Constable Barry Nisbet received a single motor vehicle rollover collision on Palmer Road, Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan Twp. Minor injuries to the driver were reported. The vehicle was towed. No charges.

Fraud

On the 8 February 2017 at approximately 9:00 pm, Killaloe OPP Constable Devin Leeworthy received a fraud call for service on Dunn Street, Madawaska Valley Twp. The complainant received a call from a male claiming to be a relative. The caller requested money to bail him out of jail. The complainant was defrauded of approximately $10, 000. This incident remains under investigation.

On the 11 February 2017 at approximately 10:33 am, Killaloe OPP Constable John Thurston received a fraud call for service on Alice Street, Bonnechere Valley Twp. A male had responded to an ad the complainant had placed on Facebook. The complainant was asked to deposit a cheque into her own account, then forward a portion of the money to another location. This incident remains under investigation.

Police are reminding the community to be aware of active scams and frauds. When a phone call or email is received, do not take immediate action. Verify that what you are being told is the truth.
