(FRENCH RIVER, ON) – On July 19, 2017 at 5:30 p.m., members from the Sudbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 69, near Highway 607 in French River, ON.
Investigation revealed that a northbound vehicle left the roadway and entered the ditch on the east side of the roadway. It was also determined that the uninjured female had consumed alcohol.
As a result Alicia CRONEY, 26 years of age, from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia was charged with:
Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol, contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC)
Driving With More Than 80mgs. Of Alcohol in blood, contrary to section 253(b) of the CC
Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, contrary to section 249(1) of the CC
Fail to Comply with Probation Order, contrary to section733.1 of the CC

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury on September 6, 2017 to answer to her charges. Her driver’s license was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle she was driving was impounded for seven days.
The OPP is reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver that is driving impaired is urged to call police by dialing 911 immediately.
