(EAST-ZORRA TAVISTOCK TOWNSHIP, ON.) – Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.) responded to a 2 vehicle motor vehicle collision on Highway 59 North at Maplewood Side Road earlier this morning.
At approximately 9:12 a.m., police responded to the motor vehicle collision on Highway 59 North. One vehicle had been travelling eastbound on Maplewood Side Road and the second vehicle had been travelling southbound on Highway 59 North. The vehicle that was travelling eastbound on Maplewood Side Road failed to stop at a stop sign when the collision occurred.
O.P.P. officers, Tavistock Fire department, Oxford County Emergency Medical Services (E.M.S.), East-Zorra Tavistock Roads, and Ontario Hydro, were all in attendance to assist with the scene.
The driver of the vehicle travelling eastbound, Allan SMITH 51 years of age of St. Thomas was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Careless driving.
Highway 59 was closed for approximately 2 hours for the repair of the hydro line and scene maintenance.
