(SOUTH PORCUPINE) – A Timmins driver has been charged with a Street Racing offence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act as well as a Criminal Code charge for possessing a prohibited weapon.
On November 10th, an OPP officer had occasion to observe a 2005 Chrysler Sebring passenger vehicle allegedly travelling at a speed of 132 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone on Hwy 144 in Thornloe Twp. (south of Timmins).
During the course of investigative steps taken by the OPP officer, a prohibited weapon was located within the vehicle.
The weapon was seized as evidence by the OPP officer.
The driver, Jean OUELLETTE, 24, of Timmins, has been charged with:
– Possession of a Prohibited Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Street Racing contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
OUELLETTE is required to attend Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him on separate dates in December.
Additionally, the vehicle has been impounded for 7 days and his driver’s licence has been suspended for 7 days.
