OPP INVESTIGATE DEATH IN SHOAL LAKE #40

(SHOAL LAKE #40 FIRST NATION, ON) – On November 26, 2013 at approximately 12:30pm (CST) the Treaty Three Police Service responded to a call to assist ambulance at a residence on Shoal Lake #40 First Nation. When emergency personnel arrived at the residence a deceased male was located.

At the request of the Treaty Three Police Service, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) North West Region Crime Unit, under the direction of Acting Detective Inspector Randy Heida of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) was called in to assist in this death investigation.

Twenty-three year old Katelyn SKEAD, a female from Shoal Lake #40 First Nation has been charged with Second Degree Murder contrary to section 235(1) of the Criminal Code. The accused is being held in custody and is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on November 29, 2013.

The victim has been identified as eighty-three year old James REDSKY from Shoal Lake #40 First Nation. A post mortem examination was scheduled to take place in Kenora on November 27, 2013.
