WEEKEND RIDE PROGRAMS DEMONSTRATE SUCCESS

(NOTTAWASAGA, ON)- The Nottawasaga Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were continuing their Festive R.I.D.E programs over the weekend, conducting twenty-five programs throughout the weekend.

During two separate R.I.D.E programs on Friday the 6th of December, 2013 in Essa and the Town of New Tecumseth, Police charged two drivers within 40 minutes of each other, their vehicles were towed and impounded for seven days and their licences suspended. Charged is 37 year old Essa resident, Michael ALCAMO with Over 80 mgs and 37 year old Richard HENDERSON of the Town of New Tecumseth is charged with Over 80 mgs (Criminal Code of Canada) and Possession of a Schedule II drug (Controlled Drug and Substances Act).

During two noteworthy R.I.D.E programs on December 7th at 5:07pm on County Road 10 and the 25th Sideroad of Essa, a vehicle was stopped for speeding toward a R.I.D.E program on County Road 10, the driver was stopped and also investigated for alcohol. Charged is 41 year old Essa resident, Dale SHEARD of Essa Township, he is charged with Over 80 mgs and received a court date of February 6th, 2014 at the Ontario Court of Justice.

In another instance, a driver turned away from the R.I.D.E program and he was stopped and found not intoxicated but in Possession of a Schedule II drug, he was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Drive motor vehicle-no licence. Charged is 22 year old Town of New Tecumseth resident Connrad MILLER, he has an upcoming court date of January 9, 2014 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford.

On December 8th, 2013 at 2:02pm, a 20 year old Town of New Tecumseth driver was stopped and Officers investigated the male for Possession of a Controlled substance. Charged is Christopher KALNINS with Possession of a Schedule II substance x two counts, he will appear in court on February 6th, 2014.

Overall a busy weekend on the roads for the Nottawasaga OPP!
