On December 11, 2013 at 12:00 pm, Barrie Police officers attended a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Bernick Drive and Duckworth Street. A vehicle had lost control and subsequently struck a hydro box; the road was closed by the city while emergency workers and city staff cleaned up the scene and investigated the MVC.
Officers observed a vehicle driving around the road closed signs and pulled it over. Investigation revealed the driver was under two driving suspension orders for unpaid fines.
The driver was charged with driving under suspension and operating a vehicle without insurance, he now faces a January court date.
The vehicle was later towed away.
