(WAWA, ON) – On December 9, 2013 just after 10:30 pm the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Wawa and White River Detachments were advised by a member of the public of a possible impaired driver on Highway 17 between the two communities.
The vehicle, a 1997 Lincoln Town Car was located in Wawa on Mission Road approximately one hour later. Based on a number of investigative observations made by the OPP officer the driver was arrested. The driver was taken to the Wawa OPP Detachment for the purpose of completing Intoxylizer tests.
As a result of the investigative steps taken by the OPP, Barry BAKER, 43, of Manitouwadge, Ontario, has been charged with;
– Drive Motor Vehicle with Blood Alcohol over 80 mgs.
– Drive while Disqualified
– Drive while under Suspension – 4 counts
The accused was also apprehended on the strength of a Warrant of Apprehension and Suspension from Correction Service Canada. His parole was revoked as a result of these charges. He was transported to Sault Ste Marie for Bail Court.
