(NORTH MIDDLESEX, ON) – On Thursday December 12, 2013 at 10:30 p.m. members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two vehicle collision on Main Street, Ailsa Craig. Police have learned that a blue Chevrolet Impala was travelling on Main Street when the vehicle accelerated and struck a parked Cadillac. Upon arrival police located a lone male standing outside of his vehicle consuming alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest without incident and no injuries were reported as a result of this collision.
As a result of an investigation police have charged the driver Jay MACPHERSON, age 36 of St Marys, ON with:
Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle as per Section 249(1) of the Criminal Code (CC) of Canada
Mischief Over $5,000 430(3) CC
Consuming liquor in other than licenced premises, residence or private place as per Section 31(2) of the Liquor Licence Act
The accused was released from police custody by way of a Promise to Appear (PTA) and is scheduled to appear in a London Court room on January 30, 2014 to speak to the charges.
Police want to remind the public the “common sense†can go a long way to saving a life on our roadways. The Middlesex OPP continues to see the unnecessary loss of life when it comes to the “BIG FOUR†factors including aggressive driving, distracted driving, impaired driving and occupants not properly secured by a seat belt.
