(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) -A vehicle stop recently conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has resulted in two persons being charged with Highway Traffic Act related offences.
On December 29, 2013 an officer from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the OPP observed a vehicle travelling on Highway 7 near King Street in Omemee and noted that the permit validation on the licence plate was expired. The officer subsequently stopped that vehicle.
Investigation resulted in the driver, Shona MUTTON, 40 years of age, of Fenelon Township, being charged with driving without a currently validated permit and driving while suspended. The accused will appear in court, in Lindsay, on January 14, 2014.
Further investigation revealed that the validation permit on the licence plate actually belonged to a different plate. As a result, the owner of the vehicle, Ian TALBOT, 43 years of age, of Fenelon Township, was charged with permit use of validation not furnished for vehicle.
