(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – The Festive R.I.D.E. Initiative started November 23, 2013 and is coming to an end today. During the initiative, the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted 125 R.I.D.E. checkpoints throughout the West Parry Sound District, charged 2 drivers with Drinking and Driving related Criminal Code of Canada charges and has served 3 drivers with 3-day driver’s licence suspensions (between .05 to .08 mgs of blood alcohol content).
Police would like to remind drivers that no amount of alcohol is safe at any time of the year when they are behind the wheel. The OPP will continue to keep drivers accountable on our roads, trails and waterways by continuing to conduct R.I.D.E. checkpoints throughout the province.
