WEEKEND UPDATE FOR ORILLIA DETACHMENT

(ORILLIA, ON) – Over the past weekend, the Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received 107 calls for service. Police responded to calls received from Severn Township, Ramara Township and the City of Orillia. The time frame is from Friday night at 6:00 p.m. until Monday morning at 6:00 a.m.

There were various calls for service consisting of noise complaints, 911 hang-ups, motor vehicle collisions, domestic/family disputes, theft complaints and Liquor Licence Act complaints.

On January 4, 2014 at approximately 4:35 p.m., an Orillia OPP officer was patrolling the Highway 12 bypass near Forest Avenue in Orillia when he stopped to speak with the drivers of two motorized snow vehicles. After further investigation the driver of one vehicle was arrested and charged with Over 80 mg Blood /Alcohol.

Faron POWELL, 36 years old of Orillia, was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date in Orillia on February 18, 2014.

On January 5, 2014 at approximately 3:50 a.m., the Orillia OPP were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 11 north near Park Avenue in Severn Township. When officers arrived at the scene they observed a Chrysler Neon sitting on its roof with a lone male sitting next to it. After further investigation the driver was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Over 80 mgs Blood/Alcohol.

Scott MACGREGOR, 21 years old of Severn Township, was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date in Orillia on January 28, 2014.
