TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO DRUG CHARGES

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On January 19, 2014, just after 9:00 p.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers stopped an Acura vehicle on Highway 401 westbound near Charing Cross Road.

Subsequent OPP traffic investigation at roadside led to the seizure of a small amount of suspected marihuana. A 23 year old male, Luca PEREIRA, from Burlington, ON, has been charged with Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana, under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, and Speeding, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The male is scheduled to appear in a Chatham court on February 21, 2014, to answer to the charges.
