Man Charged with Several Driving Offences

The Chatham-Kent police have charged a man following a motor vehicle collision early this morning in Chatham.

Shortly after midnight, police responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Queen Street and Park Avenue East.

Through investigation, police determined that a 19-year-old Ridgetown man was travelling southbound on Queen Street when he attempted to make a left hand turn onto Park Avenue East in front of a 34-year-old man travelling northbound through the intersection on a green light.

Neither driver was injured. Total damage was estimated at $25,000.

The Ridgetown man has been charged with:
– Turn not in safety
– Fail to surrender insurance card
– Drive motor vehicle with no licence
– Novice driver – BAC above zero

The man’s licence was seized for seven days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days according to the Vehicle Impoundment Program.
