(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On February 9, 2014, just after 7:00 p.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a collision involving a single motor vehicle rollover on Highway 401 westbound near Merlin Road.
The collision occurred when a Pontiac vehicle swerved to avoid a large chunk of ice on the roadway, lost control, and rolled over into the north ditch. The driver, 27 year old Kyle HAIGHT, from Kingsville, ON, was transported to hospital with minor injuries and released. No charges were laid.
These collisions are preventable. Chatham-Kent OPP would like to remind drivers to clear snow and ice from all windows, lights, mirrors and the roof before heading out on the road.
